A hub is a part on which a wheel rotates. The hub ensures that the wheel is mounted on the drive shaft and allows the wheel to rotate. It transmits torque to the wheel from the drive shaft. The hubs are installed in the fists of the front and rear suspension. The car uses electronic brakes; it does not have traditional mechanical brakes. Braking is performed by the engine at the software level. Therefore, the car has the same hub on the front and rear wheels. The hub consists of an axle and bearings inserted into a special housing. Tapered roller bearings are installed in the hub housing. The outer rings of the bearings are pressed into the fist, and the inner rings are installed on the hub tailpiece, which has internal splines and is connected to the tailpiece of the outer joint housing of the car's wheel drive. The conical bushing ensures the correct installation of the tailpiece relative to the wheel hub. The position of the bearings on the hub is fixed with a nut. It is used to adjust the axial clearance in the bearings, equal to 0.025 ... 0.080 mm. The bearings are lubricated during assembly. To protect the hub bearings from dust, dirt and moisture, as well as to retain the lubricant in the fist, cuffs and protective rings are installed. The wheel disk is attached to the hub using a nut and studs. The hub body is made of structural aluminum alloy, it is able to maintain strength and rigidity in high-temperature conditions.
