I have been trying to do this, but I could not open so far. It is really important because of project deadline. Any leads would be appreciated.
Thanks beforehand
HI
SW does not allow to open future version files.
The normal option that is available is to work with exchange files like STEP or PARASOLID.
This issue is a strategy of SW people so that users have to upgrade to new versions.
They don't even have the option to allow archiving in older version format (like AutoCAD does, for example).
We don't know if there is a third-party application that solves this problem.
Ciao
No software in an outdated version can open extensions of the same updated platform.
what you can do is try to convert the file of this solidworks 2022 with a software like CrossManager, ( demo version ) in STP extension ( or IGS however this can overflow parts of the mathematics )
Try to download a converter for https://www.datakit.com/en/cross_manager.php
Hope I can help you.
A hug
You can convert the 2022 file format to stp/step format. Then you open the stp/step format file on the SolidWorks 2020.
Hi Di.
Yes that is the way. And use the Recognize Features option, to see if it can reconstruct the model as the original... Sometimes it works (mostly do not). Ciao
That process is impossible because solid works is not allowing to save in previous version. One of the way to do is to convert to step and open in solid works with feature recognition option, but that is a time taking process and all features may not be recognised.
One of the worst thing solid works has this. It is making a lot of trouble.
Sorry, we can't help in this.
