My monoprice dual extrusion printer hasn't been printing good and is isn't that good in general. See this i got the idea to redesign it with new features such as a tool changer to make it kind of like a mini desktop factory. However i don't even know where to start on something like this. Can anyone help me with this please?
Nope Kelton, nobody can help you in this.
The question is way to generic.
So here is my two cents on it.
You either make good what you know and start building something from scratch with the skills you have, meaning that by the end of the project your knowledge will be enhanced exponentially, your skills grown substantially, and your set of tools accordingly.
Or you take apart the one you have, salvage what you can use and incorporate it in a new improved version.
How far are you disposed to go down the rabbit hole to see how deep it is?
Arm yourself with patience, and kick start, it works, takes time, but it works.
No one can hand you the answer, however; the historic approach is to copy what is good in your competitor's machines in making your own. So start learning what is good about your competitor's first.
The industrial revolution started in Europe first and we were the China for Europe. We copied and improved their inventions. But at some point America became the inventor also. China has grown up and for 3D printers is is an equal partner in improving them.
u can start by making photos of what you have, even if you want to do such a upgrade your self you put the old one and rebuild on it based on the funcrions u want , if you start by elimination of each criteria you want to add . model it so that you can see what you are doing and it might even show you some faulty or clashes while you are doing so , strat with what type of energy you are going to use are you going to use standar parts or you are going to make them your self and wether those parts will need high precision or not and how the cost will go along according to the time line you want to achive . can help you if there was a sketch , it will just be ideas that might fit what you want and the choice will be always yours , like a brain storming session , cause what you are sugesting is already done but spereatly and in differnt ways .
