During operation, the electric motor heats up. Cooling the electric motor is important for its normal operation and increased service life. The value of the permissible steady-state temperature of the motor is determined by the properties of the winding insulation. For insulation, the temperature rise in individual hottest points should not exceed 90 °C. The mechanical units and parts of the electric motor are also sensitive to heating. The permissible temperature rise for rolling bearings is 95 °C. The electric motor housing is made of aluminum alloy. The thermal conductivity of aluminum is greater than the thermal conductivity of water. Therefore, air cooling of the motor is performed. The engine is located in the lower part of the car. A casing is used to cool it. When the car is moving, air passes through the ventilation grill of the casing and cools the electric motor located in it. The casing is made of fiberglass. It is attached to the frame and monocoque of the car. The casing is corrosion-resistant and durable, therefore it is resistant to external factors such as moisture, dust and small particles.
